Rapid Pain Relief from Oral Mucositis (Mouth Sores or Ulcers)

How can Gelclair® help?

Gelclair® is a viscous gel specially formulated to aid in rapidly relieving the pain of mouth sores and ulcers associated with oral mucositis.

Oral mucositis is the inflammation of the mouth with painful sores and ulcers. This often occurs in people getting chemotherapy or radiation treatment. Gelclair® also helps to provide pain relief from oral mucositis caused by radiotherapy, chemotherapy, medication, disease, oral surgery, traumatic ulcers caused by dental braces and dentures, diffuse aphthous ulcers, and ageing.

Gelclair® works by forming a protective film barrier that adheres to the lining of the mouth. It covers and protects the nerve endings that cause pain. This stops irritation and reduces pain. Gelclair® also hydrates or keeps moisture in the tissue.

Gelclair® is available as a gel for dilution with water.

In clinical studies, Gelclair® effectively treated mouth pain and provided rapid relief that helped patients eat and drink more easily.

A clinically proven, convenient and easy to use gel:

  • Rapid pain relief
  • Improves the ability to eat, drink, swallow, and speak1-2
  • Reduces the need for analgesics/opiates1-2

  • Gelclair® can be used by adults or children.
  • Gelclair® is well tolerated – In studies, patients found Gelclair® well tolerated1-2.
  • Gelclair® has no drug interactions – There are no known interactions with medicinal or natural health products. Gelclair® may reduce the absorption of sublingual drugs (drugs that are placed under the tongue). Consult a healthcare professional when using any sublingual drugs.
  • Gelclair® does not numb the mouth – Gelclair® does not contain any numbing ingredients and won’t numb the mouth. Gelclair® works by forming a protective coating that adheres to the lining of the mouth. It covers and protects the nerve endings that cause pain. This stops irritation and reduces pain without numbing the mouth.

Gelclair® makes the mouth more comfortable so that patients can continue to eat, drink, swallow and speak and stay on their cancer therapy.
